Japanese original music culture "idol group"

Hello!

Today I would like to talk about the genre of "idols".

Japan has its own "idol" culture.

In Japan, the term 'idol' was initially used mainly for entertainers outside Japan.
In the 1960s, along with the decline of film as an industry, the arrival of the full-fledged television age, and the boom of group sounds, the term 'idol' was gradually used in parallel with 'star.'. In the 1970s, a unique 'idol' statue was created that incorporated a Japanese aesthetic sense that showed attachment to immature cuteness and familiar friendliness. "Idol songs" began to flourish when CBS Sony (now Sony Music Entertainment), founded in 1968, opened music production to independent artists instead of letting record companies produce their own songs.
Later, Kunio YANAGIDA, a conservative folklorist, commented that "Because women have a habit of being easily moved and have an exquisite sensibility that men do not have, they can gain the power of a priestly younger sister and pass on the power of life and the path to happiness." as the background of the fact that the female idol industry has been particularly active up to the present.

In this way, today in Japan, not only is the sense of idolatry performed by singing and dancing on the stage, but also "familiarity" is the selling point of contact events such as handshake events and Cheki photography.

Up until now, they watched it only on TV and in concerts, but as the number of idols increased, they started to perform in small venues such as live houses.

In addition, contact events were held to increase the number of fans, and small live houses were used to perform more live performances, creating an idol genre known as "underground idols.". This is how they refer to idols who are active in the so-called underage environment, where they cannot appear on TV or in concerts. Recently, the number of idols has increased, and there is even a word "underground idols" that cannot even be "underground idols.".

Idol live shows are held almost every day at live houses in Tokyo, and there are more "Tairban" type live shows than one-man live shows, so you can enjoy seeing various groups even on the day.

Japan is the only country where you can enjoy idol live performances almost every day!
